When I go to this retreat house it is like I am coming home. I return year
after year to deepen my relationship with God. I feel so at home here that
I have donated my parent’s furniture. Silence is key for me so that I can
lessen for God message.
I did my first retreat at Loyola just a few weeks ago and had a great
experience! Loyola offers a much needed pause from the fast paced lives
that we lead today. The silence of the retreat is a wonderful opportunity
to allow God to speak to our hearts – rather than us always trying to lead
the conversation 🙂 +AMDG+
As one of the retreatants states in this video, I am also still amazed at
how God touched me on my first retreat at Loyola 6 years ago. He had a
special message for me about how he wants me to live my life that
fundamentally changed me. I’m not sure I would have heard the message had I
not gone on the retreat, as my life like most people’s is full of noise and
distraction.
This video and the people who speak do so far more eloquently than I ever
could…Loyola is a place of peace and deep spiritual reflection for me and
every year, I look forward to making the journey…it has become a part of
the fabric of my life and being a promoter is a great way for me to feel
like I am giving something back to a place and to people who give so much
to me and my fellow retreatants,,,Make the trip, do a retreat and you too
will see the magic of Loyola. Peace.
My retreat weekend is in January. I can’t think of a better way to start a
year. I once asked a first-timer what he thought of the weekend and he
responded ” the Jesuits get it right.” I couldn’t agree more! I have now
gone 12 straight years and my only regret is that I didn’t start earlier.
When I close the large doors behind me upon entering this retreat house I
am closing the door on anything that prevents me from being still with the
Lord. As Max Ehrmann so eloquently states in his “Desiderata,” I seek to
“remember what peace there may be in silence.” This is truly a peaceful
place where I can just be still – opening myself to hear the Lord speak to
me however He sees fit. At the end of the retreat I am thankful that I can
“go placidly amid the noise and haste…”
i will be going soon
