  1. I grew up & lived in Morris Plains and Morristown for 25 years from
1961-1986. You drove past 3 buildings I once worked at in Morristown.
Graduated Morristown High School in 1976. You went past my grade school
while on Speedwell Ave. in MP. That was Borough School. Arthur’s which is a
great place to get steak dinner is still there and was directly across from
the MP train station. Its funny I found this video just two weeks after I
toured it on Google Earth and took that street view tour. This was better!
Thanks for this, brought back some good memories!

  2. Wanted to add a story of a cold rainy night at 3AM in the morning. Sounds
like a horror movie….almost! I was coming home from a bar and driving
down Mt. Tabor road you mention, toward Morris Plains. In those days Tabor
road came down an incline much closer to the railroad underpass, not like
now where the light is. There was no light. As I pulled up to the stop sign
ready to make the right there I heard a girl screaming and crying. It was
raining cats & dogs, but I had my window open just a bit because I smoke.
On the other side of the road under the pass was a car turned upside down.
The girl inside. Also in those days that underpass always flooded, not sure
if it still does. So I’m out of my car running up to her in a foot of
water. She was in a panic not only that she crashed but she’s also laying
in the water. I pulled her out and carried her to higher ground and sat her
down. No one was around. No cell phones back then so I ran to the closest
house to use a phone. The girl was OK, she said she fell asleep at the
wheel and her car must have hit the curb just enough to flip her car. She
sent me a letter a week later thanking me for saving her life. Not too sure
how true that was, but the water was rising, who knows! A night I’ll never
forget in good old Morris Plains.
